Default Car shuts off and turns back on while driving

This is a long shot, Im not sure if anyone still frequents the 6th section.

But, I desperately need help.

My car is shutting off while I am driving. It starts up with no problem. It happens on reverse, driving slowly, braking, and driving around 20 mph. It hasn't happened while driving any higher speed (I drove it on the highway from work today and it didn't shut off).

Earlier tonight, it shuts off but it is still drivable. I'm not sure Im explaining this correctly but Ill try again. I am driving and the lights on the dash turns off right quick less than a second and turns back on (AT check light comes on and goes away right away) while the car is still on drive.

Before all of that, the car turns off and the lights on the dash comes back on just like when the key is first placed in the ignition and I am able to start the car with no issues.

I have read that it can be the camshaft or crankshaft sensor. I am just hoping it is that and nothing else. Also, I wanted to see if any other members have this issue.

My car is at 185k if that helps.

crank or cam would usually throw a code, or a misfire condition. Make sure the battery negative is properly secure and not corroded, near the battery terminal, car frame or underneath the engine. It runs under the battery tray. It can be checked from under the car. To me it just sounds like it's losing negative connection momentarily. Can't truly explain why it doesn't happen at higher speeds. Check that first.

Yeah that definitely sounds like loose battery connection. .

I personally would suggest putting new battery terminals on the car. It is simple and you can buy a set from pep boys for less than $10.
Mine didn't even look back and my car wouldn't start but would start when using jumper cables. Might have to do some drilling to make the old wires and shit work but well worth it. Also check the negative wire that goes from the battery to under it and attaches to the body then to the transmission.

I had to go to the dealer for the positive terminal, no where else has it. Or you can order it online.

Zillafreak what kind of battery is that?

It is a AC Delco I think.

For the positive terminal, I just had to drill out the hole a little then use a normal nut instead of the wing nuts the terminal came with. Took me like 3 minutes to swap them out once I had all the right parts.

I swapped both my battery terminals too. My positive split open so i did something similar like zilla did. I ran a straight negative 4 gauge from the transmission, 0 gauge to the fender and a 4 gauge straight from my amps in the back (i was trying to eliminate an issue) You didn't have to buy the whole fuse unit from the dealer.
The car is getting older, a lot of people have got another vehicles now. Things change. These sites only have a booming period at a certain point, especially if it only covers a particular generation car.
