Default A/C Compressor Replacement

took my maxima to the shop yesterday to have my abs system checked and ended up finding out my ac compressor is out of there along with a leak in my lower ac hose. has anyone replaced an ac compressor before? im trying to see if its something that can be done at home or needs an actual tech. trying to save on labor fees lol

Just recently my whole AC system took a crap...all of it. I had it at the dealer for a warranty repair and after talking to the service tech it all sounds pretty involved. If youve never done anything like that before you might want to leave it to the pros.

ive done minor work to my cars before, change alternator, starter, water pump to name some. didnt know if the ac compressor would be any harder seeing that it would involve recharging the freon once installed.

I actually work for my uncles shop that specializes in ac and cooling systems, I'd say the best way to keep some money in your pockets would be buying your own compressor and of course ac drier from preventing moisture into your ac system.. then take it down to an ac shop to do a recharge and make sure there isn't any leaks..

loosen the belt,

removed (4)12 mm bolts that holds the compressor to the brackets ,

now you will have two lines (2) 10mm IIRC , but then the freon will leak into the atmosphere which is illegal ,

if you have never done this before I would suggest it , esp if you don't have a vacuum for the A/C

oh ok, sounds pretty straight forward and no worries about the freon. it has none left in there lol
