Doesn't the system run a diagnostics every startup, etc. Maybe there's a fault in the sensor or bag. Wish I knew more dude...

if you've unplugged anything in the SRS system (seats, side curtain bags, etc) and had power running to the car while it was unplugged, it'll throw a code signalling the airbag. if that was the case, just go to your local dealer, and they'll reset the system. some charge for it, some don't.. so call around to the service department at a few dealerships and see what they'll do for you. used to happen to me all the time when i had stripped down cars at my shop. mine is actually doing it too because i had the side curtain system unplugged while i was sueding my headliner

if that wasn't the case, then you may have a blown SRS Module, a short in your system somewhere, or you might just need to replace a relay or fusible link. your best bet, when dealing with your SRS System, is to let the dealership handle it. you don't want to assume that kind of liability.

You don't need to go to the dealer, there's a sticky on this forum that teaches you how to reset it

Common issue. Just reset it and you'll be all set. Do the manual procedure or just get a code reader to reset it.

If you didn't do any upgrades or disconnected anything recently, you need to have it serviced by a dealer. If you have messed with anything electrical at all, in that area, here is how to re-set it, it's for 350Z and Infiniti but it will work the same way for our Maxima. I used it and worked.. Good luck.

I tripped mine too many times to count while I was working on my stereo install. I did the manual fix and it worked every time. Like Ray said...if you haven't unplugged anything, then it is flashing because you have a problem in the SRS system...it needs to go to a dealer to be checked out.

Yeah joking sorry, couldn't resist.
And remember kids:
Always check your airbag fluid and blinker fluid frequently to prevent blinking lights on your dash!
