Default AC / Limp Mode

Hello, first questions here:

I bought my Maxima 05 a couple of weeks back. AC unit wasn't getting cold at all. I went, found how to refill it, and it worked.

The very same day two things happen: Within less than 4 hrs my AC stopped being cold. Then my car went into limp mode and the engine light came on. Turn off the car, came back on limp mode gone but engine light still on.

A week after that I had to replace the battery, engine light went away, forgot about the problem, i know that's bad.

Turn on the AC again just to test it for just less than 3 minutes, air again hot, within less than 8 miles driving the car, it went into limp mode again.

So... i know i have a leak on my AC, i know where to take it to get it fix, but my main concern is, using the AC sound like it will create a whole different issue.

Any ideas? suggestions?

And aside from taking it to the dealer, any good mechanics you might recommend me to around the SoCal / San Gabriel Valley Area?

Thank you in advance.

Take it to AutoZone and have the code read, and let us know what it is...

Sorry it has taken me this long to follow up, been really busy:

But here are the codes:

U1000
P1574
P1212
U1001

Just took it to a mechanic, according to Autozone they don't do the code reading no more here in Cali.

Well I was able to get the two P codes

P1574 is when the ECM detects a difference between two vehicle speed signals is out of the specified range.

Possible causes

- Harness or connectors of the Communication Are Network (CAN) communication line is open or shorted
- Combination meter circuit is open or shorted
- Faulty Combination meter
- Faulty Vehicle speed sensor
- Faulty Transmission Control Module

P1212 is when ECM can not receive the information from ABS/TCS control unit continuously.

Possible causes

• Harness or connectors (The CAN communication line is open or shorted.)
• ABS actuator and electric unit (control unit)
• Dead (Weak) battery

The U1000 and U1001 mean that there is no communication between the engine control unit and another control units that are part of the CAN system (Controller Area Network) or that at some point there was no communication. Before do any repairs with the U1000 and U1001 codes, the factory recommend repairing any other problems in the car. What are the other codes that you had?

Also, make sure the battery charge is correct and the ECM connector is install correctly.

Get back and I hope this helps..

Hey thanks O.G...

Here's an update:

July 1st I took the car to a transmission specialist and he told me to get a new Valve Body and to replace the CAM Sensors. Charge me $820 with labor, gave me warranty and also told me if I do need to re-build the transmission he will credit the $820 towards the job of the transmission.

He mention that it will take the car a awhile to get used to the gear changes, right out of the gate after 3 miles of so of driving it I felt a small "jerk" when it up shifted from 1st to 2nd, then again when it downshifted 2nd to 1st, called the guy and said keep driving it, it will go away.

Sure enough after 100 miles only the jerk when up shifts went away, not the downshift.
Since the Valve job and bills left me close to broke I couldn't take the car, so I decided to keep on driving it until I get paid this upcoming Friday, in the mean while the car was jerking less when it downshifted from 2nd to 1st, still doing it thought.

That takes us to today, after driving it 576 miles, my engine light went off while driving, didn't felt any changes on the car, speed or nothing, happen while on the freeway driving around 65 miles per hour.

Tomorrow morning I am taking the car to the mechanic, get it check and see what's up now. Man, no offense but I am regretting buying this car, 4 months with it and all of this problems.

I am guessing something went wrong with the installation of the Valve Body, after the engine light went off I took the streets to get home, drove it for another 20 miles and the only thing that felt different was the small jerk from 2nd to 1st gear...

Any opinions or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
