Default 2006 Maxima Clutch Kit

Alright here is my problem. I just had to have my clutch housing replaced. it had a small crack an was leaking fluid. Once they had it down an opened they noticed my throw out bearing was making alot of noise. Said it was going bad an advise me to get a new clutch kit while it was down would be alot cheaper than coming back. well i didn't have the extra money for that ontop of paying for the hosing repair. My question is. If i have to get a new clutch kit i want to get a performance one. Was wondering if anybody who has a manusl maxima has done this. Or someone with some expierence with clutches. Should i get a stage 1 or 2 an who makes a good clutch kit. I see the stage 1 is about the same price as the oem one... Any help would be great...

Clutch housing ?

You mean the clutch plate is worn ?

For your everyday daily driver , stage 1 is more than enough, even with bolt ons you will never need to go to stage 2.

my advise is to purchase a spring , do not get 3 puck or 6 puck, you want a full face or cermanic plate.

most clutch kit will come with the throwout bearing or purchase one from Nissan.

the flywheel may need to be resurface but only after the tranny is out.

thats exactly what i have along with an aasco flywheel. also everything is brand new oem from the pedal all the way to the tranny including the hydraulics and a SS clutch line. the clutch has good engagement imo.

Alright i have been doing alot of reading on clutches. I ran across something on the org site. Saying if you use a stage 1 clucth with the factory flywheel. The clutch could have some chatter to it and end up messing something up. An i also saw that someone said we can use the 350z clutch kit in the maxima just have to use the maxima throw out bearing. Is any of this true. Bcause i was ready to buy the exedy stage 1 untill i saw this.... Apparently are oem clutch is not a spring loaded clutch an the exedy stage 1 is a spring loaded clutch. this is where my concern is. Will it not work with the flywheel. Or do these people not know what they are talking about...

From what i have been reading. we have a dual mass flywheel an they can't be resurfaced. Seen people say they alot even on the g35 sites. I thought this was gonna be a easy bolt up thing now. i dunno...

This is only if your using a aftermaket flywheel.

yes they come with a dual mass flywheel but mines never came with it only because I did a conversation swap.

it didnt make sense to me to get a OEM flywheel when I piece the parts together

I would get a aftermarket flywheel. Dut i don't want any chatter at all. I may just get the exedy oem clutch kit. It suppose to be better than the factory kit. From what i have been reading. The most i am gonna do perfromance wise . Is intake, exhaust. which i already have. An plan on getting the racingline y-pipe in the future. I don't think i would really need a stage 1 just for that. Although i wouldn't mind the stage1. I was hoping more people would comment on this

For what your doing , Ive heard great reviews on exedy.

the chatter usually occurs with the JWT flywheel compare to my mines.

But most guys that gone so far as to go with a lighter flywheel are very into performance and don't mind the little chatter if it helps them on the track.

for normal daily purpose I will stay with the OEM and upgraded stage 1 exedy.

stay away from unsprung unless you want to build calf muscles

Ok. So stage one exedy should be fine with the stock flywheel. I have one more question if you don't mind. The exedy comes with everything i need except this. Nissan printed me out the parts i would need an this one is on here doesn't come in the kit that i know of. It's called bush 1st shaft part#32202-B950A... Should i still by this part. An i read somewhere else that i should still by the stock throw out bearing. Just to be safe. thanks for your help...

I have no idea what " bush 1st shaft part#32202-B950A. " as I cant find any images on it or info.

what I can tell you is that the OEM throw out bearing is best used and while the transmission is out , you may want to think about replacing the rear main seal , which is about $40 part, it is up to you but since the tranny is out , I would recommend you do that as well as inspect all your CV axle boots.

this is one of those jobs "while your already apart , replace " sitution

This seems to be it. it's only like 3 or 4 bucks.. So i guess it would be best just to buy an have it incase. Along with the throw out bearing... http://www.courtesyparts.com/bush-1st-p-586990.html

Well your average 6thgen owners are daily driven, Most guys are 5AT.

GL , remember to break it in , also as I said , invest in a rear main seal , and new fluids as well since your in there.

have them check the seals on the axles and make sure those aren't leaking.

Its better to spend the money on those parts/seals now and to have to do it again twice (labor cost )

whoever is doing your clutch job , should be asking these question to you ( if you want to replace _____ ) if they do , then they are doing their job right.

if they don't then that mechanic basically don't care for your car and just doing the job to get paid and that's that.

or if your DIY or a buddy , then these are some of the things you should also (inspect or look at when your pulling the tranny out )

So i got the car back today an i must say i am very impressed with the exedy stage 1 clutch. The clutch pedal is a little more stiffer an it grabs really good. I need to do my 600-700 break in period than i can really let her loose. Any one looking for a aftermarket clutch i can say for sure you will like this one. After i had the clutch installed an my tires rotated an balanced with a front end alignment it feels like a new car..

Okay . After having the exedy for a couple of months i have sorta changed my mind on them. I get a wierd noise when going slow in reverse or forward. Seem's to grab a little harder than it did when it was first installed. I can literally here a slight clunk noise when shifting.. I guess that is the clutch grabbing harder than it usually has. An i have been getting a burning smell lately that could or could not be the clutch. but i love the response of the clutch car feels alot quicker with it. I wonder if i just got a bad clutch. or is some of this just things that come along with having an aftermarket clutch. Not to mention since the install my clutch pedals sounds like a cricket on crack...

Anybody have any thoughts on the clunk sound when shifting. it's not super loud but it is there. Would this be the clutch or something else. i did have my right axle replaced. An they had to do it two times. first time it messed up an i couldn't go pass 55 with out the whole car shaking bad. Replaced again an feels fine. Just don't know what would cause the clunk noise. i have never had a performance clutch so i don't know if this is common or not. I just want my car back to running like it did last year. Or at least the way it ran right after the clutch install. Since my warranty won't let me have my work done at nissan. Next time i go get the oil changed i will have them look over the work that was done at the other dealer. Im wondering if the axle is still not lined up perfectly... I don't remember the sound prior to having the new axle put in but i could be wrong...
