Default 2005 SL Tranny Issues

I have read all about the tranny and valve body issues but I think my issue extends some of the problems. I have 2005 SL and noticed that if I take my time switching from park to reverse then down to neutral and eventually into drive, I get a hard shift after approx 2-3 seconds. But if I go from park to drive with out stopping in R or N, the tranny shifts into gear just fine. I also have the hard shift from 2nd to 3rd as well as the downshift. I also have had two instances where my RPMs ahve spiked. There are 168000 miles on vehicle. I have read about replacing valve body but curious if this will solve my problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm no expert at all but it sounds like anew valve body would eliminate most or all of your problems. I think done guys have posted some good info in the tranny section

OK, thanks. I have been reading/researching in that section. Is there a difference between a new VB, a Transgo kit or a Level10 VB?

Different methods of resolving the same issue. Preference is yours. In my own case I opted for the new oem vb.

Is replacing the VB just a bandaid to a larger problem...the tranny?
