Default 07' Maxima Oil Light

Hey guys, this morning driving to work my oil light came on. I checked my oil, its not low, just dark. My last oil change was 2,600 miles ago on pennzoil premium synthetic. The light isnt flickering, its steadily lit. I drove about 5 miles after I checked the oil. My guess is that the oil pressure switch crapped out, but the pressure is technically there. No knocking or ticking noises either. It was raining like crazy, and the roads were partially flooded, lots of splashing going on. What do you guys think? Thanks for your help

I've had an oil pressure switch crap out on me in an Mitsubishi once, but the light was flickering with acceleration.

Just a guess, but I would say some sort of sensor has gone bad. Maybe @NiZMo1o1 can put his 2 cents in.

maybe do an oil change just to see if that fixes it. if it doesnt, im thinking the oil pressure switch is out too. ya might be able to get it done under warranty. if you are still under it.

the water could short it out or in some case maybe have force it to be unplugged.

the oil pressure switch is behind the block near the firewall on the passenger side, you can almost see it near the oil filter,

I would unplug it and dry it out first , then replug it and start the car to see if that fixes the issues.

thanks a lot for your help guys. Would I be able to reach it from up top? Or is it something I need to crawl under for?

Can I just unplug it or do I need tools to get it out?

I mean, if there was low pressure I wouldn't have been able to drive 5 miles right?

Thanks again guys, huge help.

You would be able to drive fine with NO oil pressure...until the motor seizes up. You better make sure you have oil pressure before driving around too much more.

I had the same problem a few weeks ago and was told it was the switch acting crazy. Then one day it went off and never came back on

Yeah take it to a shop and have them check you oil pressure asap .Or it could be a sensor like the above posts or it could even be that you have to prime the pump . Just my .2cents .
