Very difficult to diagnose this online because of the many possibilties. It could be a warning for many things.

But here are few things to try:

-Get Code Scanner and Check Code
Base on this you can get a better understanding of what might be causing the problem.

-Check your brake fluid (Make sure its not low)
As your brake pads wear down, the more fluid needed to displace brake caliper piston volume. If the level of fluid in the master cylinder falls below a certain level as determined by a sensor in the master cylinder, your lights come on.

-Worst Case Scenario
Go to dealer. If you need to get the VDC re-programmed it takes about 15 min but dealer will probably charge an arm/leg.

P0118 - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit High Input

The engine coolant temperature sensor is used to detect the engine coolant temperature. The sensor modifies a voltage signal from the ECM. The modified signal returns to the ECM as the engine coolant temperature input. The sensor uses a thermistor which is sensitive to the change in temperature. The electrical resistance of the thermistor decreases as temperature increases.

Symptoms
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

When is the code detected?
An excessively high voltage from the sensor is sent to ECM.

Possible Causes
- Harness or connectors (The sensor circuit is open or shorted.)
- Engine coolant temperature sensor may be faulty
- Low engine coolant level.

Possible Solution
- Replaced coolant temperature sensor
- Repair connector or harness

Check your coolant level first.
