Default So Long Maxima...

I was on my way to school this morning, leaving my neighborhood. There was a car in front of me and my windows were a little frosted. Anyway, the car in front of me pulls out and I edged up and stopped. I looked both ways quickly and started to pull out. Just as I was entering the intersection, I looked to my left (the direction I was turning) and I see a grill about a foot from my car. I had no time to react, before I knew it they hit me. I did 3 360's and pulled my car off to the other side of the road (straight across the intersection). The lady who hit me was going easily 45mph (in a 35, going in to a 20 school zone on the other side of the intersection) and admittedly didn't slow down. There were 5 witnesses, including my mother, and everyone said that she hit me without slowing, going way too fast, and that in normal circumstances I would have made it out no problem, but unfortunately that was not the case and I was cited with failure to yield to traffic. As the pictures show, I'm one lucky person, 2 feet closer and the EMS said I would be in serious condition, the max is a declared loss already, and I'm looking for replacements as we speak.

Just as a note, don't take what you have for granted, and I don't mean the objects you posses, I mean the ability to walk, talk, and eat on your own. It was all very close to being taken from me, and I walked away without a scratch. I will admit I never thought about how lucky I was before this to be in near perfect health, but I have never thanked god so many times in one day for being so lucky...

Well in that case buy it back from the insurance company for around 2-2.5K and rebuild it....That can be easily fixed by a REPUTABLE collision shop 100%
I would...

I understand...have you asked the insurance howmuch they want for it...if its 2 k then maybe part it out...running drivetrain can bring you more then 2 alone...depending on your mileage...

They already declared it a loss and paid me my money, which was much more than I expected, I don't have the time or money to mess with that car anymore unfortunately... It's all about moving forward and moving on. Hopefully, though, that means a new maxima... I got over a grand above MSRP for excellent condition, because of all the stuff I had in it and how it "was clearly taken care of". Things happen for a reason, just another step in a new direction...

That was a serious wreck. It appears the airbags worked as intended.

I am glad to hear you were not injured.

My 3rd gen ended life in a similar fashion. I had a fractured collar bone and bruised ribs. The difference was a mack truck hauler hit me. Glad you made it out ok and the airbags seem to have done their job as well. Hope you find a great ride with some change left over for mods. Stick around even if it isn't a maxima. Family is family man!
