Default Accident During SANDY. -_-

Hydroplaned right into a cement barrier on 96th street on the FDR btw I was already using the spare tire on the back wheel passenger side. This is my first accident of any kind and now I want to pay my deductible and have the insurance company pay for brand new parts. Any suggestions on how to do this? I filed a claim already. Was given a body shop that they suggested. I will have some pics up later today. Just want advice on what do from here.

Hood is bent out of shape, both fenders slightly as well. Bumper is scratched and twisted OEM HID headlight scratched and cracked. Before the crash I needed to replace all motor mount struts and shocks. Think it's possible with this claim? My steering needs to be aligned keeps pulling left after the crash.

Insurance companies work closely with some shops because of discounts (parts and labor) sometimes they actually do good work.

You can have the repairs done any where you want. You are not locked in to a specific shop recommended by the insurance company.

Be smart. Get at least three quotes from well known body shops including a Nissan dealership. Look over the list of parts on each quote and compare. Ask each shop if they are using new genuine Nissan parts or generic aftermarket parts. Look to see if the estimate includes an alignment. If it does not, you don't need to tell them about your existing alignment condition. Tell them you are concerned about the alignment since there was such an impact and you want to make sure the alignment will be corrected along with the body work.

Good luck.

What the hell were you doing driving around in such nasty weather anyway?

I dont know who your insurance company is but brand new may not be what you'll get. I have State Farm and some one backed into my wife and cracked her rear bumper. On the invoice it sowed that they got a used part from a junk yard to fix it. At first I wasnt happy about it,but they did a great job blending paint that you couldnt even tell. Just make sure to use a reputable body shop.

I took it to my mechanics, I trust them pops introduced me 10+years ago before I had a license. I just left it in there shop and not looking back. I know they do good work. Had an accident worse then this a few years ago and they made it all Better. (Stole my fathers car and crashed it and didn't have a License.) I'm going to tell him I want everything straight from NISSAN brand new just charge the ALL STATE for everything after my deductible. I wanted to upgrade the front to a 6.5 gen but only one headlight is cracked >_<.

As for everyone wondering why I was driving during the storm. I was working 24hours straight making crazy overtime and decided to go home and get some rest and smoke a little weed. (Don't judge me). And on my way back to work the rain started coming down around like 3 and all of a sudden I feel a flat!!!! So I spent at least 30 min changing the stupid tire and as I'm driving its raining hard and I didn't see a body of water so my car started hydroplaning and I ended up hitting the wall.

You must of been going pretty fast to hydroplane, I remember when my rained pretty hard a few weeks ago in Cali I was going 40 in the freeway (speed limit 65) and literally every curve in the freeway felt like I was going to spin out, Z's are known to suck during rain season, glad you're okay though I know it's a damn scary experience

Damn sorry to hear about your ride, seems like October isn't a good month for the Silver Maxs. Glad you're okay though and good luck getting the insurance company to pay for new parts.

About the cracked headlight, if you get the shop to break one of your clamps on the other light before the insurance company checks it out, they'll but you another one, that's what I just did.

Despite what you heard depending on your insurance they may not pay for OEM Nissan parts. The parts that they may pay for will be CAPA certified however. Like others have said, take it to a reputable body shop as they often know how to get every drop out of the insurance company. Sometimes they'll save money for you in labor and certain parts and be able to get you better parts and/or reduce your deductible.

GOOD LUCK!
