Default Z's 05 Maxima SE

2005 Nissan Maxima 3.5 SE
Red Opulence
37.5k miles as of 5-5-13

I'm 17, this is my first car, and I could not be more satisfied.

I've had the car for a while now. I worked hard through the school year, was responsible enough to warrant receiving the car from my grandmother. She passed it on to me (she's still alive, don't worry) because she doesn't use it often enough. It's been garage kept it's whole life, and is in excellent condition.

Mods are coming along slowly but surely as I save up for them between family and food. I've got a whole list I'm keeping secret and continually adding to. I like to lay everything out I wanna do to my car so I can see prices, how much I've spent/saved, and how much is left. The plan is to do the exterior, interior, and finish off with engine and performance components.

"You're not building a race car." -My Dad (a man who had one of the coolest Saturn SC2's of its time)

So, most performance mods are being held off. Not like they're terribly important; can only go so fast on some roads, and with Florida drivers... can't get much use out of them anyways. That means that creature comforts and style come first!

I had one mod done that I did as soon as I got the car. It's a simple K&N 63 series intake I installed with my dad.

A clean car is a happy car. It's been washed/waxed/polished in March and shines beautifully.

--------------------

Mod List:

Engine:
K&N 63 Series Cold Air Intake
K&N Filter Wrap
BT Design Underhood Lighting Kit

Exterior:
Spyder Sport Front Mesh Grille

Interior:
BT Design Footwell Lighting Kit

Suspension:
Racingline Performance Front Strut Tower Bar

--------------------

(Sorry for the quality in some of the pictures, I'll be replacing them soon. New hard drive, new installs, so it'll come around.)

This link will take you to an Imgur album with all of the pictures I've taken, plus some more as I add on. For now... -- Updated 4/18/2013

Images will be removed and added based on its currently modified state.

--------------------
The rest are just pictures of the car in and around Jacksonville!

This is after a good cleaning, waxing, buffing, and polishing!

Man my dad told me to put him out of his misery if he ever lost his car sense!

I'm working on getting the few pictures I have of it. He created a small poster with a banner and a whole list of mods, trying to upload off my phone now...

Wow!!! A 2005 with 35K? 35K in 8 years? That is an impressive car then. You are very lucky to have a grandma like that. And glad you proved yourself responsible enough for them to give you the car. I know you will enjoy it and enjoy your stay here. very friendly people around here.

Welcome aboard.

It's made of this ABS Plastic kind of stuff. Not sure if I wanna paint it, it's smooth in color and looks good now. Plus I like how it matches the bottom "smiling" grille.

Looks damn good. Painting your roof rails the same color would be a great "less is more" addition.

What, the chrome strips? Nah, keeping those. It'll help bring out the silver in the wheels I've picked out. To balance it, I'm painting the rear emblems black and maybe the headlight casings.

Finally fixed the grille, hooray. Weather hasn't been good enough for any Plasti Dip applications yet. However...

New mods are arriving soon! Bought a K&N Filter wrap to further prevent hyrdrolocking. It should arrive this Friday. Also bought a Racingline Front Strut Tower bar which arrives next Tuesday. At the same time, bought the BT Design underhood lighting and footwell lighting kits. Those haven't shipped yet, but no rush there. Pictures will be up as soon as everything's installed!

It's been a week, and everything above has arrived. The filter wrap has been thrown on. My dad said he never used one in his cars, but didn't object to my purchase. I'm following the logic of a $25 wrap versus a potentially several thousand dollar engine replacement. Then, I'll be installing the FSTB and Underhood Lighting this afternoon, and hopefully I can get the footwell lighting done around the end of the month.

Once the FSTB and lighting are done I'll post some pictures for sure! I'm still waiting to Plasti Dip the rear emblems... it's been whipping wind and rain for days now...

Update:

Muscled the strut bar in yesterday afternoon. Will post pics tonight for sure.

UPDATE:
BOOM Strut bar! God I took her for a spin tonight and it feels like she's on rails.

Sooo my cassette to iPod adapter went out on me, so I threw the $100 down for a DICE Silverline DUO-103-NIS adapter, as recommended by other threads on this site. Going out today to pick up oil, a filter, cans of paint, sanding paper, and a snack. This sunday, my Dad and I will change the oil, install the underhood and footwell lighting, and lastly, give the car a through cleaning, in and out. Going to remove stains and dirt from the driver's footwell, dust the interior, remove coloring from black pants in the seat, and more. It's a long overdue bath anyways.

Pictures will be up Sunday night!

Still though, weather is crappy and it's been a constant downpour today. Maybe my Dad and I can go grab some paint in a few days so I can get that out of the way. After this Sunday, my next few plans are a new battery tie down and a grounding kit. I've been looking at the Racingline Kit and the "MAXIMA" tie down I saw around here somewhere. After that, I've got some saving to do. Aftermarket bodywork ain't cheap!

Spent all day putting in a footwell lighting kit and underhood kit from BT Design. The footwell kit took so long because of multiple breaks, slacking off, and routing wires through to the center console rather than to the other buttons near the steering wheel.

Here are the results!

And they're hosted on the site just for you!

This is where we mounted the switch, as opposed to near the steering wheel. We removed the blank switch, butchered it, and slipped this in! It lets them be always on, off, or function alongside the overhead lights with the doors. Gotta love that clean factory look.

My Dad and I also did the underhood lighting. Turns on when the hood opens and off when it closes. Looks good, and really lights the place up.

All in all looks good! Also - shoutout to Mr. BT! Gotta love his products; they look and function great.
