Default Well here she is....

Yet another boring Liquid Silver Maxima but I sure am digging it! The wife and I made a road trip to Nashville Friday late and picked it up yesterday morning, made the run up and back with no issues. I'm really pleased with the car, the stick makes it a hoot to drive and it even got 33+ MPG, and the wifes new 10 Maxima got 31, couldn't believe it!

Time to start on my mod list!!

KYB's, Progress springs, Progress rear bar, and Altima SE-R front bar are all on the way, along with the Racingline Y pipe.

How's that for a start??

Don't think I'm going to do the links, at least not at first.

I'm studying on wheels as well, thinking about ASA AR1's at 22 lbs each and a reasonable price...

Perfect Start!! That's how I did it.

While doing your SE-R bar make sure they check all your motor mounts to make sure there are good and not cracked. This way if one is bad... its much easier to replace while installing the SE-R Bar since you have to drop the sub-frame.

If motor mounts aren't incredibly expensive should I just go ahead and replace them as preventive maintenance? Does the subframe mount with some type of rubber insulator that may need replacing? Anything else to look for while I'm under there? I'm wondering about replacing the clutch and doing all the timing chain stuff, good time to just drop everything outta there and be done with it?

I can get pretty anal about this stuff and let it snowball....

It really all depends on how the previous owner took care of the car. If he/she used it as a regular daily driver I think the mounts should be ok. But if they pushed the pedal to metal on a daily basis chances are that you could have a broken motor mount.

Usually when you have a bad motor mount it makes your engine rock and gives you the impression that something is wrong with the transmission. Check them out and give them a little inspection.

As far as the timing chain goes... its usually the tensioners that go bad. I replaced mine at about 90K. This is a very annoying ticking noise that gets worse as times goes on. If you don't have any clicking noises then you should be ok. But if you do... I would start with a fresh oil change and take it from there.

Besides the clutch, oil change, tranny drain/refil (check fluid and make sure its not black).... I think the car should be in good shape to roll!!!
