Default 08maxinaz's Build Thread

Hello all,

Well I finally started the build of my Maxima. I bought my Maxima in December of 2010 used with roughly 62k. It's a base Onyx SE with the CVT. In August of last year my wife and I found out we were expecting so she's been driving it mostly as her car is an 04 Cavalier with about a million miles on it, and I'm a little protective. Anyway I digress, I bought my first mod (Takeda Cold Air Intake) and installed it today.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

It wasn't as easy as I had hoped, (thought my tool set was metric turns out it was standard, the resonator box wasn't very cooperative and so I gave up and left it a short ram, and it rained off and on ALL DAY, IN ARIZONA!! also I found out the sidewalls on my two front tires are shot and need to get new tires tomorrow) but it's on there and man does it scream!

One thing about the install, there was a wiring harness that's attached to the drivers side wheel well that seemed to get in the way of the top tube for the intake and made installation a little trying. Is this normal? I had to kind of force the tube into place a little but once I figured out the angle of everything it wasn't that bad.

Anyway, this build will happen a little slower than most as we are expecting a daughter within weeks. However I will update as soon as I change anything.

Up next are brake pads, and stainless lines. Any suggestions?

I figured while I was at it I would throw in my current build list. Man my car is stock lol.

Ok, so I got bored and went to Autozone and picked up this. Goo gone, for when I debadge the car in the future (need a heat gun or a SUPER long extension cord) some scuff pads and flat black duplicolor. I will be blacking out some trim on the car this weekend.

I think I'm going to test spray on some crappy plastic stuff I have around the house just get it perfected. But I am going to use this to paint the weather strips on the car. Any tips because I get started?

Well... So I didn't get to the weather strips. Mainly due to logistics, also because I tried seeing how hard it would be to remove them and I broke the first clip I got to so I put the kibosh on that and decided to do my first spray on some engine plastics.

Click the image to open in full size.

I like the look of it, and it turned out really well all things considered. I think I am going to paint the V6 3.5 portion blue though.

Click the image to open in full size.

I'm liking these wheels especially with the blue, and I figure it would be a nice touch of color in an otherwise all black car.

You can go here They're in 17,18, and 20 no 19's oddly enough and I confirmed with the XXR website. Oh well... I'm thinking 18X8.5 with Falken FX-452 should do quite nicely.

Haha yeah it sucks having it so dirty but it's been so dusty out here recently it's not worth trying to stay on top of it right now. Oh well.

I actually am going to be hitting braking pretty hard over the next couple of months as I just started hitting the squealers on my stock brakes. I'm going to be getting EBC Redstuff Pads and Goodrich lines, I think I might do EBC rotors as well... but I haven't decided on that yet. I might also give alien rotors a look though. We'll see.

Alright, so not a lot to update recently. I just welcomed my daughter Kaydence Olivia into the world on Friday April, 13th. So, I've been a little preoccupied with that the past couple of weeks.

However I did debadge the trunk last weekend, and this week I got my decals in. So, I took the car in to get a full exterior detail and put on my decals. Looks amazing!

Alrighty so it's been a little while since I've done anything with the car. However I finally pulled the trigger on an exhaust. I bought two Magnaflow 14807 mufflers with tips and removed the stock mufflers. Overall I like the sound a lot, very throaty on start up and not to loud or over powering through out the full rev range. I still have stock everything else, and I may be going with a Y-pipe in the future.
