Default How to Do A Tranny Drain And Fill

yooo!!! what up peeps?? well, for me i just did my tranny drain and fill last weekend and took some pics to show that its as easy as changing oil lol. it is recommended to do this service every 30k miles. if you do it every 30k, there isnt really a need for a full flush. a full flush would consist of doing a drain and fill 3 times with a short drive in between each drain and fill.

oh, i want to thank Nismo101 for aiding me out. the bolt on the tranny pan is a 10mm hex!

bought 4 quarts of this and used up 3.5 of it. im not sure if it would hurt if i pour the rest in.

tranny dipstick. i hate taking this thing out

theres the 10mm hex. you have to be cautious here. cover the ground with a lengthy cloth because once the bolt is out, the tranny fluid will literally shoot out.

insert funnel as shown

check the level and redness. the pic does no justice whatsoever. in real life, the fluid after the drain and fill was sparkling red. beautiful color.

DONE!!!!!!! if you got any questions, ask it!!!

Nice job and write-up. I do mine a few times per year and I replace exactly what comes out (I fill the empty bottles with the old fluid to get exact measurements), but my fluid doesn't come up to the level where yours is. It's typically down in the XXX area and I don't top off from there.

This might be a stupid question, but is the fluid under normal operating temp with the car sitting level supposed to reach the HOT mark when full?

while the car is running or still hot, it should be near the "HOT" level. on most cars, the tranny oil is suppose to be checked while the car is running. i think on hondas you check the tranny oil while the car is still hot but off.

btw, no question is stupid (unless that is your intention) ask to learn!

Ok, good to know thanks. I believe we measure the fluid on the max while the car is running or if you start it cold, run it for 10-15 until warm. What does the XXX area on the stick indicate? A minimum level?
