Default No Bass

I have a 2004 Maxima SE with factory Bose no Nav. I replaced the CD/Cassette with an aftermarket HU(cheap HU from ebay). I used a Metra 70-7551. All wires are connected except the solid blue wire(power antena) on the Metra harness. The blue/whie wire I connected it to the HU power antenna. It works fine but I get no bass at all like the factory HU. So my question is, did i hook it up properly and how can I get back tyhat quality Factory sound?

i did not see the Metra harness part of the post. sorry about that..

new response:

If we rule out installer error then the problem is in the HU.
you mentioned it being cheap. how cheap are we talking?

I found this on the big org maxima.org
"You need a HU with at least 4V pre-amp out for the 70-7551 to work properly."

Well that's why. You won't get any bass doing that. You have no way of turning up the gain or the volume of the stock amp. If you want bass you have to use an external amp.

So you have a separate amp for your sub?

The Bose system is designed to work as a system. I feel when you start to change or remove parts of the system, it doesn't work quite right. I tried a few things with the Bose system with out much luck. The best thing I did was get rid of it.
